Dr. Tim Mullins

Pharmacist

Tim graduated from Samford University’s School of Pharmacy, now the McWhorter School of Pharmacy, in 1987. He later returned to Samford to continue his education, earning his Doctor of Pharmacy degree in 2000. Throughout his career, Tim has enjoyed the privilege of serving others through pharmacy, with a special commitment to the Bessemer community, where he has practiced for the past almost 40 years.

Tim also had the opportunity to serve on the staff of Samford’s pharmacy school, helping place pharmacy students in clinical rotation sites where they could train under experienced preceptor pharmacists. That experience strengthened his desire not only to practice pharmacy, but also to help prepare future generations of pharmacists. In 2008, Tim and his wife, Sondra, were blessed with the opportunity to open Hometown Pharmacy Services in Bessemer. Through Hometown Pharmacy, Tim has been able to continue serving the community as a pharmacist while also working as a preceptor for McWhorter School of Pharmacy students, sharing his experience and passing along his love for the profession.

Today, Hometown Pharmacy is entering a new season. With Tyler now serving as our full-time pharmacist, Tim is able to step away from some of the day-to-day responsibilities at the pharmacy and devote more time to caring for his parents. He also hopes this season will allow a little more time to travel to Washington State to visit his granddaughter and enjoy those special moments that seem to pass far too quickly.

We know that many of our patients and friends are also serving as caregivers for aging parents, spouses, or other family members. It is a role that can be both a blessing and a tremendous responsibility, and we have an even greater appreciation for those of you walking that road.

Meet Sondra, our office manager and co-founder of Hometown Pharmacy in Bessemer. With a degree in vocal performance from Samford’s School of Music, Sondra's passion for singing has led her to participate in church ministries and missions.

Her journey with her husband, Tim, has been filled with diverse adventures, from rearing their three wonderful children to establishing and running Twisters Basketball Club, a program that helps kids win college scholarships. Sondra has always enjoyed working alongside her husband, and together they have ventured into new territories.

At Hometown Pharmacy, Sondra has been able to connect with patients and their families, building lasting relationships within the community. When she is not in the office, Sondra values the opportunity to meet and interact with people on a personal level, making each day at the pharmacy an opportunity to connect with others.
